In the framework of Workpackage 1.2 ‘The use of databases and GIS in the forest protection’, Oksana Pavlishchuk, Eng. from Ukrainian State University of Forestry and Wood Technology, Lviv, Ukraine visited Department of Forestry Management in Mountain Regions.

Aim of this visit was training in creation and processing of data bases and numerical maps of biotic threats to forest for chosen Central Europe’s area, with special consideration to Polish/Ukrainian border area.

Training subjects:
  • numerical (digital) maps creation on the basis of analogical ones,
  • transformation of maps made in different co-ordinate systems,
  • data preparation and processing in geometrical bases,
  • data and numerical maps association, thematic layers formation,
  • use of geostatical methods in spatial data analyse.
Effect of this visit will be database and numerical map creation that covers problem of mountain spruce stands’ dying back in this Karpatian Region both on Polish and Ukrainian site.
