Within a framework of task WP1.1 ‘Ecological approach to forest pest management’, there was a visit of dr Lassaad Belbahri, from Laboratory of Applied Genetics, University of Applied Science in Lullier, Switzerland. Scientist from Switzerland made in Department of Forest Phytopathology laboratory tests and carried on training of Institute’s employees in biomolecular techniques use in forest trees pathogens identification.

Dr Belbahri is a specialist in DNA analysis use through Real Time PCR which lets to identify studied species and its pathogeny. Pathogens identification and detection tests and analyses were carried out by RT-PCR-Chromo4 device.

Stay schedule consisted inter alia of: field trip to the Krotoszyn, Konstantynowo and Piaski Forest Districts and material gathering to laboratory analyses (bark, roots, soil) and presentation of 2 papers dealing with Phytophthora species:
  1. Diagnostic of Phytophthora species using Real Time PCR and microarrays.
  2. Phytophthora disease, the transgenic solution.
